Brackley Saints 5  Highmore Ibis 2

Saints welcomed Highmore to SJP on Saturday. Saints lost both fixtures against Highmore last season, however this time it was the Saints who secured their first home win of the season with an emphatic 5 goal haul. Having scored only 10 in their previous 11 games the Saints delivered a score line they have threatened on several occasions this season.

Saints fell behind on 4 mins, playing a high line they fell to a through ball which appeared offside, however resulting in a well taken goal by White.

Credit to the Saints, this was a minor setback, when Murphy was tripped in the box Baldwins converted penalty equalising on 11 mins. Jordan on 14 mins bought out one of many excellent saves from the Highmore keeper when his strike was finger tipped over. Farrell also had to be alert on 15 mins but as the Saints pushed for the lead a Johnson shot was well saved by Ssatlik and from the resulting corner a Johnson strike from the edge of the box on 29 mins gave the Saints a deserved lead. A very accurate Baldwin free kick on 41 mins further increased the Saints lead with Murphy being superbly denied by another fine Ssatlik save on the stroke of half time.  HT 3-1

Saints closed out and denied Highmore any glimmer of an opportunity in the opening period of the second half and once the comfort of the game position had been secured they went in search of further goals, Baldwins effort well saved on 68 mins the Saints further extending the lead on 75 min with a solo run and finish by Jordan. Saints Murphy, twice being denied further goals on 77 mins and 79 mins by excellent saves from Ssatlik before Johnson bagged the 5th goal on 85mins following a run and cross by Minott and volleyed pass into his path from Wilkin.  Highmore grabbed a consolation in the 4th min of added time as the ref blew for full time as the ball bobbled across the line.

Excellent all round performance.  FT 5 – 2

Saints have some tough game coming Bracknel home and away, tipped by some to win the league they have lost only twice so far this season, followed by Flackwell currently lying third, then Thame currently 2nd and unbeaten and then Thatcham who are currently top or the table. Now that a tough schedule and the lads would really welcome your support.
