Back in January we announced the launch of the Brackley Town FC Player Development Academy – Girls Football section with the aim of providing opportunities for girls to play football in an environment that should help everyone involved to develop, strengthen, and maintain personal capabilities, physical and technical competencies, self-belief and confidence through having fun and enjoying the game.
To kick-start our girls football programme we delivered three taster sessions, led by Andy Thompson, one of our senior academy coaches, at our fantastic training facility, for girls in school years 3, 4, 5, & 6 to gauge interest.
Whilst we were aware from the work being done in local schools by our Community & Schools Support coaches that there would be some girls interested in playing the game it’s fair to say that we were more than a little surprised at how much desire there is for girls football in our area.
The young players who came along to the taster sessions with Andy showed a really good level of commitment and skills but most importantly had a huge amount of fun. We also had a number of enquiries from parents of players who couldn’t make the Monday sessions but wanted to get involved moving forward.
We are now able to announce the next step for girls football at Brackley Town FC which is that we will be running teams for players currently in school years 3, 4, 5, & 6 with training sessions taking place on Friday evenings at the club from 5 until 6 pm.
The sessions start at 5 pm on Friday 24th February 2017, cost £3.50 per session, and will be led by our Academy coaches.
All sessions will be at Brackley Town FC, Churchill Way, Brackley, NN13 7EJ.
Parents of children interested in taking part should contact Tracy Johnson (Secretary) on 07817486541 as soon as possible to secure a place.
